If it’s someone’s birthday, ask your kid to help you make some paper chains. They’re easy to make and the results are pretty as a picture.

What you need

Coloured paper

Safety scissors

Glue sticks

Benefits

Helps develop fine motor skills and coordination

Learning by example

Learning about outcomes

And don’t forget, the everyday things you do together make a big difference and can help your child to grow up healthier and happier.

How long will it take?

30 mins

What to do

  1. Cut paper into equal sized strips, then together, you can dab a blob of glue on the end of a strip to form a loop.
  2. Place the second strip into the middle of the first, and glue that into a loop, too. Then repeat for as long as you like or with lots of different colours. Your kid can colour or draw on the strips too. Like the chains, the fun can be endless.
